A CHARITY that helps keep large items from going to landfill is having a bike sale next month.
Refurbs Wrexham’s big bike sale starts on Friday 1st July and will run every Friday of the month.
They will be offering a wide range of bikes suitable for kids, teens and adults, creating the perfect opportunity to get a bike in time this summer.
The bikes were part of the Refurbs ‘Bike Refurb’ project run at their Flint location. The Bike Refurb project involves the refurbishment of bicycles that are no longer wanted or fit for purpose. Bikes are collected from local household waste collection centers, dumpsters where they were given away.
They have been refurbished by volunteers led by a trained Cytech mechanic. Volunteers undertake a variety of tasks to return the bikes to good working order, with all bikes undergoing a full pre-delivery inspection by a qualified Cytech mechanic prior to sale.

Lisa Jones, project manager for Bike Refurbs, said: “The Bike Refurbs project has a lot to offer. New skills and confidence for volunteers. Reducing waste sent to landfill and CO2 emissions and providing quality affordable bikes, whether for commuting to work, an active everyday lifestyle or for children to learn to ride and play.”
The bikes will be available to buy from the Refurbs Wrexham store at the bottom of Henblas Street, Wrexham, every Friday in July 2022. There will be a wide range of bikes to suit all ages and abilities from £15.
Refurbs is a registered charity with the aim of promoting the reuse and recycling of furniture and appliances to reduce waste. Selling these household items allows them to continue their charity work providing internships, training and volunteering opportunities for the local community.
